Decks

Innovative Decks

Built to last.

"We've always done it that way..." How many times have you heard that expression?  We pride ourselves on being introspective and pursuing the best processes, materials, and methods; never settling for something simply because "that's how it's always been done."  This mindset of innovation combined with our desire to perfect our craft every day ensures that the next build we complete is our best build.

Foundation

Helical Piles

No two building sites are the same and there is no "one size fits all" solution for deck foundations which is why we have grown our infrastructure and expertise to include the ability to install Helical Piles. These steel piles are screwed into the ground using a hydraulic motor and provide several benefits. One of these benefits is that this type of installation is extremely low impact as it eliminates the need for any excavation, the piles leave minimal damage to the install location as seen in the image adjacent. Additionally, the install of piles can be a much more cost effective option for a foundation due to the fact that driving them with the motor means no costs on the labor to dig, form, and pour columns in addition to eliminating the need to purchase concrete. Reach out today to get us onsite to see if this innovative solution can save you money on your project.

Concrete Columns

Not every job accommodates the equipment or soil conditions necessary for Helical piles, in these cases, there is nothing wrong with good old fashioned concrete columns. Regardless of location and circumstance concrete columns provide a surefire and effective foundation for any deck. With a number of different forming methods and the ability to mix onsite or pump to location, we can install an enduring foundation for any deck, in any location.

Frame

American made Steel

"Built to last." it's a phrase often used in the building industry but unfortunately the reality of the situation is that no matter how good of a builder you are, the longevity of your build is constrained by the durability and resiliency of the materials you use. The advances made in foundational systems as well as decking material have left a wooden frame as the weakest component in any deck build. This is a tough reality to face, but there is a solution. Steel, manufactured in the U. S.  14 gauge, galvanized, and coated steel from Newcastle Steel backed by their manufacturer warranty is a truly unique frame that will outlast wood frames and match the lifespan of any decking product installed on it. This durability over time is complemented by a versatility in design that is available when building with steel. Spanning longer distances, carrying more load, and maintaining a smaller profile are all advantages when it comes to designing the perfect deck and no frame gives these benefits as well as Newcastle Steel.

Finished surfaces

Choosing a decking surface may seem daunting when you consider the plethora of options and colors available; Treated wood, Cedar, Hardwood, Composite, among many. We can help simplify things by a thorough evaluation of what your needs, wants, and location call for. Due to the nature and longevity of the foundation and frame we will install, we only recommend deck surfaces that will match the our frames durability over time as options for an investment of this significance.

Examples off these products include PVC Decking, Pavers, MonaDeck, Ipe Hardwood among others. All of these products when properly installed have lifespans comparable to our frame.

Advanced PVC Decking

PVC Decking or "Capped PVC" decking. (SEEN ADJACENT). This product has the look and characteristics of wood, with none of the maintenance or imperfections. While maintaining a cool temperature in the hot North Idaho summer it retains the durability to withstand our harsh winters. conversely, a composite deck board will overheat in the summer making it untenable to walk on when barefoot. Once installed, PVC Decking does not require staining, sanding, or any refinishing and does not fade in the sun like natural woods. Available in a number of colors, styles, and sizes, we can help you design your ideal deck aesthetic with a proven product that is manufacturer warrantied for 50 years. Pavers

Yes, you can put pavers on a deck, seems a little odd at first until you consider that our steel frame is more than adequate support for a heavier surface like stone-cast or natural pavers, and that these products are guaranteed to last.
This choice lends for a more elevated design to your space, but ultimately, it is a one time project that will truly last a lifetime. Get us onsite for a free consultation to determine if a paver deck is right for your space

Ipe (ee-pay)

The one and only wood decking that we will install is this hardwood. Ipe is a Brazilian Walnut known as one of the most dense woods in the world. For this reason, it is extremely resistant to rot and termites which allows it to have a lifespan of well over 50 years when properly maintained. Yes, Ipe like any natural wood deck does require maintenance, it is an extremely low maintenance product in comparison to other natural woods, a simple sand and re oil regularly will allow this product to last just as long as any manufactured surface. If you are looking for a true "natural" look and feel to your space, get in touch for a free onsite consultation.
